Context

Machakos County, has seen significant economic and social development over the past decade, the county still faces critical challenges such as poverty, food insecurity, water scarcity, poor healthcare access, and climate change effects[1]. Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and non-profits play a critical role in addressing developmental challenges and fostering community-driven solutions. In Kenya, at the national level and within the counties, Civil society and non-profits have been integral in filling gaps where government interventions may fall short, particularly in rural areas. In Machakos County, CSOs and non-profits play a critical role in complementing government efforts in sectors such as health, education, water, sanitation, climate action, governance, and economic empowerment. Despite these efforts, there is limited coordination among the various organizations working in Machakos. Duplication of efforts, competition for resources, and insufficient knowledge exchange have been highlighted as major barriers to sustainable development in the region[2]. Recognizing the need for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building, The County Government of Machakos in collaboration with Sustainable Africa Innovators (SUS-AFRIC) www.sus-afric.org invites Civil Society and Non-Profits stakeholder’s working in Machakos County to a roundtable meeting.
